(Back to Top)Installation is simple and easy even for a first-timer. One woman claimed to have done it without her husband help. It's also easier if you replace an existing disposer. You just need to used back or slightly change existing piping setup to fit the new Waste King disposal.
The EZ mounting system is this product installation bracket. You just need to snap the unit onto the mounting ring by giving it a quick twist. Read the instruction manual first before installation. Once you understand the whole procedure, installing it become a piece of cake. The benefit of the EZ mount system is that it gives you an easy and quick installation method.
Waste King 1001 comes attached to a power cord with a plug at the other end. If you want to do a hard-wired connection, you’ve to remove the cover plate at the bottom of the unit. Then remove the termination and pulled out the power cord.
There is a dishwasher connection port to hook up your household dishwasher if needed. If you want to do that, remember to punch out the small plug before mounting the unit under the sink. Based on consumer’s comments, it took them from 20 minutes to an hour to mount this model.
What you need is included in the package to do a complete installation except for a few minor items. If you replace an old disposer, you might need to do some minor adjustments to the piping connections. For this you might need some PVC pipes from your local hardware store.
If you install the kitchen disposal for the first time, you might need extra items. The extra items are PVC pipes and drain fittings to connect disposal outlet to the drain pipe. The dishwasher connector kit is also needed if you've a dishwasher.
The package includes a rubber gasket for stainless steel sink. For other types of sink, such as porcelain, you’ve to use plumber's putty which is not included.

So we were surprised when we came across a few consumers who claimed it’s very quiet. If you don’t use the unit often and only grind small amount of food waste, the noise should not be an issue to you.
Based on the comments, most users are satisfied with the noise generated. We considered that as a trade-off for a low price product which is still a good deal.

This model is under the middle range units and use for normal food waste grinding. So it may have problem dealing with very tough waste food.
If you’re a heavy user, you should go for a higher grade unit such as Waste King L-8000 or Waste King A1SPC. Both are good quality 1 HP kitchen garbage disposals to grind large amounts of waste food quickly. This inexpensive product is for a household that don't need a powerful garbage disposal.

Feedbacks from consumers have been extremely positive. They are happy with how it’s taking care of their food waste and the ease of installation.
Since this unit belongs to the mid-range model, it’s only for light and moderate usage in the kitchen. As for sound level, it's not quiet. But it should be acceptable for such a pricing. What we like about this unit is that the slim body can fit inside limited spaces.
