My Final Opinion & Price
(Back to Top)Insinkerator Badger 5 is an inexpensive 1/2 HP garbage disposal. This model is suitable for small family with light usage in the kitchen.
It’s not too noisy. And gives you a satisfactory performance for your basic household needs.
Installing this unit is easy. Especially if you’re buying one to replace an old identical model. This means that you used back the existing sink flange and mounting brackets.
You just need to remove the old unit and snap the new one in place. One plus point is the compact size which allows you to mount it inside a limited space under the sink.
One main problem for this model is the housing cracking and leaking issues. When writing this review at an earlier date, the rating is low. But it seems those problems are less common now. And the rating has improved from 3+ to 4+ in Amazon customer reviews.
We also came across many consumers buying back this model for replacement. They replaced their existing identical unit which has worn out over the years. Based on their comments, they have been using the old Badger 5 units ranging from 5 to 18 years. The selling price in Amazon for this model that comes with free shipping is around $90.
