Insinkerator Evolution Septic Assist Installation

Don’t worry about installing an Insinkerator septic assist. You’ll find it’s not that hard at all. In fact, it’s the same as mounting a standard disposer. Like other Insinkerator disposals, it comes with the stainless steel Quick Lock sink mount.

It's an easy and quick way to mount your new unit. To remove or mount, you “twist it off” or “twist it on” respectively.

If you happen to replace an existing Insinkerator unit, it gets even easier. What we mean is you intend to use back the installation bracket. It's a simple task of taking down the old unit and hook up the new one.

The manual has clear instructions and diagrams. A few basic hand tools are all you need. One user mentioned that the unit is quite heavy. So when you do the alignment before tightening the collar assembly, get some help. Use a jack if you're alone to raise the disposal into place.

And don’t forget to remove the knockout before mounting the unit. That is if you’ve a dishwasher. After mounting, you can hook it up with your dishwasher.

The standard package does not come with a power cord. If you've an electric outlet or use an air activated switch such as Insinkerator STS-0O, you need to buy one.

You can use back the power cord if you replace an old disposal. For safety reasons, make sure it’s in good working condition.

Take note that these items are not included:
  • cable connector
  • plumbers putty
  • wire nuts.

Noise Level

Are you concern about noise level? If so, this model can solve this problem for you too. The manufacturer claimed that the noise output is less than a conventional disposer.

They also stated that talking to another person in the same room with elevated voices is not an issue.

They've in fact done an excellent job to keep noise down by doing these things:
  1. Block out noise from the vibrations between disposal and mounting parts.
  2. Block out noise from the mouth of disposer.
  3. Block out noise from the running motor.
The manufacturer achieved the above by using their patented SoundSeal technology. Many consumers also praised the product for its quietness operation.

Grind Operation and Bio-Charge Technology

Grind Operation

The GrindShear ring made up of 2 stages performed the grinding function.

The 1st stage grinds waste food into smaller pieces.

The 2nd stage shears them into very fine particles.

So your waste food turned into fine waste before flowing down the pipe and into the septic tank.

Those fine waste particles reduce the chances of clogs or jams along the way.

The grinding operation made use of Insinkerator patented MultiGrind technology. It uses a powerful 3/4 HP induction motor running at 1725 rpm.

So it's a quick way to grind almost any food waste. You may have encountered tough food waste in the past. With this product, that will be a thing of the past.

Now you don't have to worry about what food waste you throw into the disposal. Having said that, be caution on what can and cannot be thrown into the grinding chamber.

Bio-Charge Technology

The septic assist garbage disposal has bio-charge technology to ensure your system run smoothly.

Each time you run the unit, it injects millions of natural microorganisms into the grinding chamber.

The microorganisms immediately eat up the food waste during the grinding process.

When liquefied waste is transfer to tank, the microorganisms continue to do its job.

The microorganisms help to break down food and household waste inside the septic tank.

When you use this product, you get many benefits such as:
  • You can use it in homes with aerobic septic systems.
  • It has a citrus scent to help control or remove sink and drain odors.
  • It helps to break down household solid waste and food waste in the septic tank.
  • You don’t have to add chemicals to your septic system manually.

The package includes a bio-charge cartridge which can last up to 4 months. There is a viewing window on the bio-charge cartridge for you to check the fluid level. To change the cartridge, remove the old one and snap the new one in place. To learn more, click here for full information.

Overall Opinion & Price

Most garbage disposer can be used in septic system provided its tank is properly sized and maintained regularly. But it will be safer if you used one designed for this purpose.

And that’s where Insinkerator Evolution septic assist comes to the rescue. In our opinion, this model is the best garbage disposal for a septic system.

You get the benefits of a standard garbage disposal plus a Bio-Charge technology. These ensure that waste food is ground into fine particles. And the Bio-Charge additives help to break them down further in the septic tank.

Moreover, additives are added automatically each time you run the unit. So you don’t have to worry about doing it manually. All these actions help to minimize clogging in the pipeline and keep the septic tank in a healthy state.

This seems to be a very good product. Many reviewers are praising it in the Amazon customer review. They claimed that the unit is relatively quiet, easy to install and does a great task in grinding waste food. They also highly recommended it to household with septic system.

If you've a septic tank in your home, consider using Insinkerator septic disposer. It does an excellent job of running and maintaining your septic system. On top of that, it also helps to control the sink and drain odor. And hopefully cut down on the septic tank servicing cost.

The price is over $200 plus. We think it’s still worth the price, considering what it can do for you and the added Bio-Charge feature.
